Hi as you know I have my name down to join the Club at the end of March and I regularly check this website for updates and news but I notice you have other media sites (Facebook, Hotfishing and maybe more that I am unaware of). Can you please let me know what they are and how I access them or do I have to wait until I become a member to access them?

Howdy Dave,

What I am trying to do is move everything over to this forum, takes a little while to organise where the content will be going. The reason behind this is because anglers informed me that they would never join social media site so I have moved a lot of stuff over to this forum so that you don't need to log in if you just want to view information.

The likes of Twitter and Facebook made their content behind so you need to join to view the info that anglers were posting (if this makes sense). This way this forum is fully open to all anglers, not just HLAC members. It was the easiest way to have our very own platform to go with our store and main website.

Twitter (Public) is open and free to join.

Facebook (Public) is open and free to join.

Facebook Groups (Private) - are closed to yearly members and invites are sent after joining.

Instagram - I have moved over photos to this forum which doesn't need a log in to view them unlike Instagram.

HotFishin' - is brand new to us but fishing results of the all of our matches will be posted here and open to everyone to see free.

YouTube (Public) - is open and free to join but content will mainly be posted on this forum rather than there.

Hope this helps !

Wow that’s a very fast reply.
Thanks for the info and am looking forward to the end of March when hopefully I can join and also contribute more

You will be able to join without a doubt come the end of March beginning of April.

Usually the Facebook (Private) groups gets updates. For example Catch Reports, Photos, Angling Tactics, Meeting Updates, Work Party Schedules, Weekly Match Results (reports) and general chit chat.

The (Public) Facebook page doesn't get used now, it's basically there to redirect people to the main site and this forum when they do a search there. A lot of people deleted their Facebook profiles and it's really why I started this forum where the majority of info can be found.

We have lots of documents over at our cdn.hlac.co.uk as well. It's where I store a lot of the rules / policies and match results.

These are the best places to ask questions as the information is public and everyone can see. 🙂

Well I don’t use Instagram or Twitter but am looking forward to becoming part of the community and becoming involved

This is a new thing. I’m trying to get this place for all anglers not just for Hetton Lyons.

Instagram and Twitter or just places to point anglers over to here really.

We can see how it goes over the next couple of years and how much social media changes. 🙂

Just to let you know about your new for sale thread. I’ve limited posting images on the site. You can’t upload them to the hlac web space but you can upload them to websites like IMGUR and IMGBB then use a link to insert the image.

I’ve limited this because I wasn’t sure how much space I would require for a lot of image storage.

It’s basically copying a link and adding it in your post. The image will automatically display as if by magic. I’ll help shortly with embedding images in posts with a guide somewhere, maybe in a new section.

@davemacsween

Are you a member of any other lakes by any chance? I'm curious to see where other people fish in the North East.

Hi yes I am a member of Hartlepool Angling Club and regularly fish the Tilery Lake in Wingate.
They also own Kenny’s Pond in Station Town and a number of river stretches on the Tees and Wear near Chester Le Street

Yeh heard of them all, how is Tilery fishing at the moment? I was checking out EDAS as a second membership this year for myself. I have posted some info in the venues section.

At this time I should also add that I am quite limited how far I can walk because due to numerous parachute jumps in the 60’s and early 70’s in the Army I am not able to walk very far and have had numerous operations on it. In fact I have a date for a bigger operation on it. On the 19th of February I am actually having an artificial ankle fitted and it will be non weight bearing for quite some time so even though I hope to join HLAC in March I will probably find that for the remainder of this year I will be unable to do anything at all. I certainly won’t be able to drive for a couple of months at least but after all the op’s I have had that I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel

We have some close pegs available 01/02/03/04 and 24/25/26 which should help. Pegs 1-12 are classed as the disabled pegs for mobility issues and the pegs are a little wider with more room to move.

That’s brilliant thanks for the update I’m sure I will put them to good use
